During the Virgin de la Candelaria celebrations in Puno, Peru there is a parade that goes down the street from 6am to 2am the following morning. Locals save for years to afford the detailed decorations and costumes that are shown during this time. Each costume can be hundreds of dollars and most families put away a bit of money every month towards making the next costume even better. All the performers are high energy, dancing or playing their instruments over a kilometer throughout town. This girl had a very large, ornate hat and was one of the most smiley people we saw that afternoon.
