Smiling Grandfather and Granddaughter in the 4000 Islands of Laos

While relaxing in the 4000 Islands in Laos a grandfather holding her cute granddaughter motioned to have their picture taken as they beamed a wonderful smile.

I recently spent a few days relaxing in the 4000 Islands in Laos. While wandering around taking pictures one day, I saw this man and, I assume, his granddaughter. They smiled at me as I walked by, and a few minutes later when I came back the other way they were still standing there. The man didn’t speak any English, but he waved me over. His granddaughter smiled but was being very shy. He kept pointing to my camera and then back at her, so I took a picture of the two of them. The granddaughter giggled when I showed her the photo screen. It made me smile for the rest of the day.

I’m addicted to traveling, and I made it to all 7 continents before my 30th birthday. I moved from the US to Germany in July 2011 after marrying another travel blogger, Grounded Traveler, who I met through Twitter. I write about my travel adventures and life as an expat at Ali’s Adventures

The background looks like a quaint little town… i’ve never been to this part of Laos.
