These cute girls were part of a ten-kid posse that I bumped into in Yokyakarta, the cultural capital of Indonesia. Phillipa and myself had hired bicycles from our hotel, and had set out to explore the city. It was a typically hot and humid Indonesian day, and at one point we took a break and sat down to escape the heat, with a cool drink of iced tea.
A bunch of kids came running up, and asked if they could take turns riding our bikes. Sure! Within minutes, they had developed a make-shift race track, and were riding the bikes as fast as they could with four kids on each bike. Moments after this photo, one of the bikes crashed right in front of me, kids were flying everywhere! Thankfully, all the kids were uninjured. The bike was not so lucky. This was truly one of my most enjoyable experiences in Indonesia.
