After the beach, the next best way to spend a Sunday in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil is at the Ipanema Hippie Fair. Tracing its roots back to the 60s, it is the place to find hand crafted goods, local art, the ever flattering harem pants, and street food. This man caught my interest with more his smirk than his smile. Serving corn to one of his customers in the bustle of the market, he seemed entranced by his own thoughts – perhaps dreaming of the beautiful carioca awaiting him back at home.
Today’s smiling faces travel photo is a generous contribution from Audrey Bergner of That Backpacker. Audrey is currently teaching English in South Korea to a hilarious bunch while exploring as much of the country, food and culture as she can on the weekends. I love the colours on the woman to the left that he is serving.

Indeed, having travelled around a decent chunk of South America and Asia, I’ve sure come to realize how bland fashion is back home. People are afraid to wear anything colourful or bold it seems.

I’d love to go there myself! My favourite spots for photography are fairs, markets and back-alleys
